Pasha Sword Features
Sansevieria, popularly known as Pasha Sword, Prophet Sword, Sword Flower, is in the group of indoor plants that are the easiest to care for. If you are worried about plant nutrition and are looking for a plant that does not tire you in its care, Pasha Sword is for you. According to the belief, when you exceed 1 meter in height, you will be the owner of the house.
Another beautiful feature of this plant is that it produces oxygen at night and absorbs toxic gases in its environment. For this reason, it is one of the most suitable plants to be fed in the rooms where you sleep or in the stuffy environments.
How to Care for the Pasha Sword?
1- Choosing a pot (must be medium deep and flat)
Since the pasha sword root structure is in the form of rhizomes, there is no need for very deep pots. Since it is a very fast growing plant species and will grow twice as much in a year, you should choose the pot considering this situation.
2- Soil Selection (Soil must be suitable for succulents)
It is a succulent plant native to Africa. For this reason, the soil should be airy that does not hold excessive water. Since the root structure is in the form of rhizomes and the leaves are long, the soil should be compacted. Of course, adding pumice stone to the soil will eliminate this problem, as the compaction of the soil increases the risk of airlessness of the roots. It is sufficient for this ratio to be 3/1.
3- Light Selection (It is not picky about it)
It is one of the exceptional plants that adapt very quickly to shaded and semi-shaded areas and continue its life very well. One or two hours of sunlight in a bright area at sunrise or sunset is one of the types of light that the Pasha sword will love and grow more beautifully, as it is with every plant.
4- Irrigation (Needs less water)
Since it is a succulent plant and has a rhizome structure as a root structure, they do not need much water. The pasha sword first stores the water in its roots and then uses the amount it needs. For this reason, you do not need to water the soil before it is completely dry. You can use vitamins suitable for indoor plants as plant food. In winter, you can stop the feeding process. This depends on the coolness of the environment and the amount of light received. The dryness of the leaf tips is due to the insufficient amount of nutrients.
5- Reproduction (Can be reproduced in two different ways)
The pasha sword can be reproduced in two different ways. The easiest method is the steel method. It will be sufficient to cut the leaves from your plant into pieces of 10 cm and plant them directly into the soil. Putting the cuttings you planted in bright places and keeping the soil moist in a non-cold environment will ensure that your plant will keep it. The second method is to separate the new shoots from the soil with their roots in the spring and put them in new pots.
6-Diseases (Rot is the most common)
Excessive watering causes rot first in the roots and then in the leaves. Large pots are the biggest invitation to this problem. Apart from this, it is the problem of shrinkage in the leaves, which, on the contrary, is caused by less watering.
